Taiwo Ogunbote Foundation is a Centre for Human Capital and Democratic Development. We are pro-democracy group and non-governmental organisation with the aim to promoting human dignity and good governance via liberal democracy. It is a forum where Nigerians, especially the young generation will learn about Nigerian political history and mistakes of our past leaders.
The purpose of the foundation is to inculcate the spirit of nationalism and patriotism in our future leaders. People will be exposure to various tenets, attributes and promises of democracy.
We envision introducing the principles of democracy to Nigerian youths through effective teaching and mentoring; they will be taught political socialisation and political culture that will ultimately imbibe the spirit of mature politics, passion for governance and good leadership in them. The major pillars of democracy will be discussed and inculcated in members for practical use. They will also be enlightened in the area of civic responsibilities.
Who is a democrat?
A Democrat is an individual who believes in:
- a democratic process of electing leaders
- a democratic rule
- fair play
- win-win politics
- respecting other people's rights
- principles of rule of law
As democrats we believe in equality- all people should be able to pursue their goals in respective of their religion, race, ethnic background, geographical location and gender. Democrats are expected to promote, defend and fight for human and civil rights.
We also believe that government at all levels are expected to provide essential provisions for citizens in need, as well as legal recognition and protection for oppressed or poorly represented minority groups and the masses.
